January 2005 Horses of All Ages Sale

The January Horses of All Ages Sale offers a variety of racing and breeding stock, including broodmares, broodmare prospects, yearling, racing prospects, stallions and stallion shares.

Keeneland inaugurated the January Sale fifty years ago, conducting the first editions of the sale in 1956 and 1957. Following a three-year hiatus, the January Sale was resumed in 1961 and has been held annually since.

Among the prominent horses that have been sold in January are Mackie, a half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero; champion Escena; Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Desert Stormer; Solar Slew, dam of champion Cigar; and major stakes winners Showing Up, Point Ashley, and Downthedustyroad.
