Keeneland's first Thoroughbred auction was held in 1943 under a tent in the racetrack paddock.
Today, our sales are conducted in state-of-the-art facilities which offer a wide range of client amenities:
- A 650-seat, theater-style sale pavilion;
- A 6,400-square-foot enclosed walking ring attached to the rear of the sale pavilion allows buyers a sheltered place for final inspections;
- A 13,000-square-foot covered show ring adjacent to the walking ring provides additional shelter and safety for buyers, sellers and horses;
- Private conference rooms;
- Wireless Internet service in the sale pavilion and barn area;
- An expansive sale repository. Keeneland is the first Thoroughbred auction company to utlize digital x-rays in its respository, allowing more than one veterinarian to view X-rays on a single horse simultaneously;
- A business center;
- Main and auxiliary press boxes; and
- Limestone Cafe and dining areas, adjacent bars and patio seating.
