Blame Rallies to Take Closing-Day Fayette

Adele Dilschneider and Claiborne Farm’s Blame rallied from next to last to overtake even-money favorite Parading and win the 51st running of the $150,000 Fayette (G2) by 1 ¼ lengths as Keeneland wrapped up its 17-day fall race meeting.

JIM WILLIAMS RECALLS KEENELAND HIGHLIGHTS

 

Today, on the final day of the 17-day Keeneland fall meeting, the track will be honoring Director of Communications Jim Williams. Williams is retiring at the end of 2009 after 38 years with Keeneland.

Proud Lisa took the lead inside the three-sixteenths pole and steadily pulled away to an authoritative victory in the $45,928 Stonetower Purse Friday at Keeneland.

A total of 33 horses that raced at Keeneland in October and/or had timed works at the track during the month are among the pre-entries for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 6-7 at Santa Anita in California. A total of 166 horses, including 10 defending or former Breeders’ Cup champions, were pre-entered for the Breeders’ Cup. Pre-entries were announced on Wednesday.
