Study Shows Casino Gaming at Eight Kentucky Racetrack Locations Produces $1.7 Billion of Economic Impact

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce today released preliminary findings from a statewide study commissioned by a partnership of Kentucky horse industry interests. The study, conducted by the independent research firm Spectrum Gaming Group, shows the economic impact of adding casino-style gaming at eight Kentucky racetrack locations would produce $1.7 billion dollars of economic impact during the first full year of casino operations, resulting in a net gain of approximately 11,000 full-time jobs, paying $290 million in wages annually.

Recent Survey Shows Overwhelming Majority of Kentuckians Support Statewide Vote on Casino Gaming in the Bluegrass

A recent survey conducted by a prominent, national public opinion research firm shows that an overwhelming majority of Kentuckians want the chance to vote on whether to allow casino gaming in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. In addition, nearly two-thirds of those polled would vote “yes” on a statewide referendum authorizing casino-style gaming in the Bluegrass.

Wise Dan Dominates Fayette on Closing Day, Helping Leparoux to Five Wins

LEXINGTON, KY (October 29, 2011) – For the second consecutive year, a horse bred and owned by Morton Fink, trained by Charlie Lopresti and ridden by Julien Leparoux won Keeneland’s closing-day featured race, the Fayette (G2). Last year, the winner was Successful Dan, who won the race by three lengths. Today the winner was Successful Dan’s half-brother, Wise Dan, who took the 53rd running of the $150,000 Fayette by four lengths before a crowd of 17,370.
