$600,000 Shadwell Turf Mile (G1)

Michael Iavarone (co-owner with Richard J. Schiavo of IEAH Stables, which owns Court Vision in partnership with John A. Roberts’ Resolute Group Stables)

On winning Shadwell Turf Mile after winning the First Lady (G1) with Diamondrella (GB)

“You buy horses for days just like this. This is just a dream come true, and we’re just happy to be a part of it.”

On Court Vision earning a berth to the TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) with the Shadwell Turf Mile victory despite having competed on turf at longer distances

“This is probably going to be his game, so we might as well play it.”

Robby Albarado (rider of winner Court Vision)

“He was very close for him, within himself, doing it easy. I figured the fractions were slow and I knew this horse would finish up big and he did. He had faced some quality horses in the past, including Gio Ponti (in the Grade 1 Manhattan). He’s got quite a bit of back class.”

Rajiv Maragh (rider of second-place finisher Karelian)

“They didn’t give me a lot of instructions before the race, but they told me what the horse is all about. The pace was very slow so I just let him go out and I was able to slow it down. I knew I was going to have a lot left when they came to challenge me. He tried to the best of his ability. Unfortunately we came out second best, but that’s nothing to be ashamed of.

On the tight photo:

Truthfully, I didn’t think I’d won it and I was congratulating Robby after we crossed the finish line.”

Rusty Arnold (trainer of second-place finisher Karelian)
“He ran great. We’re so proud of him, especially coming off the year layoff. I don’t know if we’ll get in now, but our only reason for coming here today was to try and make the Breeders’ Cup.”

Bill Mott (trainer of third-place finisher Mr. Sidney)

“The horse ran well, just didn’t win. He fought hard to be third. We still may go to the Breeders’ Cup – we haven’t ruled it out.”

Kent Desormeaux (jockey of third-place finisher Mr. Sydney)
“He was attentive to me and let me ride him. I thought we had it turning for home, but we couldn't catch the top two.”

Tyler Baze (rider of fourth-place finisher Battle of Hastings [GB])

“He was really liking it out there. He likes the soft ground. He ran his race today, he just got outrun. I am so proud of him. I love this little horse – he tries every time and today he just got outrun.”

Neal McLaughlin (assistant trainer of sixth-place finisher and beaten favorite Justenuffhumor)
“He absolutely hated the track today and didn’t handle it at all.  I knew he was in a lot of trouble right from the beginning.  He is usually a lot closer to the pace, but he just didn't take to the track at all.  I don’t know if we are going to the Breeders’ Cup, we will have to wait and see what Sheikh Mohammad al Maktoum says. But we’re ready if he wants to go.  As far as I’m concerned you can throw this race out.  And obviously we wouldn’t get a soft track out in California if we decide to go, so that’s good.”

Alan Garcia (jockey of Justenuffhumor)
“He just hated the track and never had a chance.  I couldn’t get him closer and when I asked him to run, he had nothing.”
