Silver Mountain, who was still eighth with a quarter mile remaining, threaded his way between horses in the stretch to score a narrow victory in the featured $53,612 Stockplace Purse Wednesday at Keeneland.

The 4-year-old son of Victory Gallop stormed between tiring pacesetter Thabazimbi and Classic Bridges to defeat on-rushing Memorial Maniac by a nose in the 1 ½-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and upward.  Hidden Glance was a neck back in third.

The time was 2:32.47 on the “firm” turf.

Silver Mountain, who gave jockey James Graham his second victory of the day, won for the third time in 16 starts and increased his earnings to $120,832 with the winner’s purse of $32,400.  He is owned by Sundance Thoroughbreds and trained by Tom Proctor.

Silver Mountain paid $10.80 as the third choice in the betting.

Jockey Julien Leparoux won three races on the day’s card – the 2nd race with Tempo Five ($8.20); 6th race with West Court ($6.20) and the 9th race with Prince Teton ($13.20).
