Finding an opening between the leaders at the top of the stretch, jockey Rene Douglas guided Banker’s Choice through it and to a 1 ¼-length victory in the featured $52,000 Cobra Purse Wednesday at Keeneland.
When early leader Majestic Feline and and Loveyou Everybody drifted apart, Douglas took advantage of the situation. Banker’s Choice completed the mile on the turf in 1:38.88 and paid $15.
Loveyou Everybody held on for second, 1 ¼ lengths in front of Oculuna. It was a nose back to Keertana in the field of nine 2-year-old fillies. Following a stewards inquiry, Oculuna was disqualified and placed ninth for bearing on the turn and interfering with Definitive Whim. Keertana was advanced to third.
Banker’s Choice, who is owned by A. Stevens Miles, Jr. and trained by Ian Wilkes, improved her record to two wins in four starts and increased her career earnings to $48,084.
